We live in a complex, and constantly changing world, often surrounded by an array of people, opinions, ideas, beliefs, and experiences.
We observe, we analyze, and we just try to make sense of each and everything that is happening around us.
However, what many of us fail to realize is that to truly understand the world around us, we must first be able to understand ourselves.
If we cannot understand our own thoughts, feelings, and actions, how can we possibly understand others or the complexities of the world?
But why is it so important to understand ourselves before understanding others or the world around us? Have we thought about it? Moreover, what does understanding oneself mean?
Understanding oneself is about knowing our emotions, our thoughts, and our behaviors. It is about being aware of our strengths, weaknesses, fears, and desires.
Also, our perception of the world is shaped by how we understand and see ourselves as.
For instance, if we see ourselves as dull, uninteresting, and colorless, we will see the world around us as the same. Along with that, we will not be able to fully appreciate the vibrant beauty of the world around us.
But what if we flipped the script? What if we started seeing ourselves as the most colorful and beautiful people in the world? Would it change the way we see the world around us?
Certainly, the answer is yes!
So, when we think of ourselves as the most colorful and beautiful person, we radiate a fresh sense of confidence and self-love.
We begin to appreciate the little things – just like the vibrant colors of a sunset, the tangled pattern of a butterfly's wings, the taste of our favorite food, etc.
Looking back on how I thought of myself, I was always comparing myself to other people, trying to fit in, and seeking validation from external sources, which completely broke my self-image and confidence.
I was not even in tune with my own self, which made it impossible for me to appreciate the beauty and diversity in the people and things around me.
I was always trying to fit into a mold that didn't align with who I truly was.
My mind was unable to recognize the uniqueness of every person and thing because it was full of limiting beliefs and self-doubt.
It was only when I slowly started to accept and understand myself that my perspective shifted.
I started to recognize my uniqueness and strengths instead of focusing on my flaws and insecurities.
However, if we shift our perspective and start seeing ourselves as unique and complex beings with both strengths and flaws, we open ourselves up to a whole new world.
Instead of constantly comparing ourselves to others, we begin to recognize and appreciate our own uniqueness.
Not only that, but understanding your own self helps you set boundaries.
It helps you make the right decision rather than being swayed by the opinions and expectations of others.
It guides you towards prioritizing your own well-being and happiness.
So, how can we truly understand and describe ourselves? The answer is simple yet a bit challenging - self-reflection and introspection. We need to take the time to step back and truly get to know ourselves.
By doing this, we can better understand our emotions, our thoughts, and obviously our actions. We become more empathetic, more open-minded, and more accepting of others.
We can do this through journaling, meditation, or simply spending time alone.
So, if you feel like you don't quite understand yourself, don't be discouraged. Analyze your feelings, your thoughts, and your actions for a while.
Ask yourself why you think and behave in certain ways in certain situations. Embrace all aspects of yourself, even the ones you may not be proud of, because they make you who you are.
To conclude, it's crucial to understand and describe ourselves before we can understand and describe the world around us.
We are all unique individuals, and by understanding ourselves, we can appreciate the beauty of the world.
Remember, the world is your mirror, and it's up to you to make it a colorful and beautiful one.
